With a new must-have kitchen gadget appearing every week, it can sometimes be tricky to spot what’s genuinely useful. Yet, among the whirlwind of shiny new innovation, there are some household items that can really make a difference to your day-to-day life, and a hot water tap is one of them.

A hot water tap (sometimes called a boiling water tap) heats water until it’s just below the boiling point and then delivers it to your kitchen sink instantly upon demand, removing the need for a kettle. This type of tap also comes in a range of styles to suit any kitchen, and most feature child-safe handles and insulated spouts for safety. Some taps are even designed to be used on the hottest of settings, offering up steaming boiled water for tasks such as steaming rice and vegetables, peeling fruit and seafood or cooking noodles or couscous.

It’s worth noting, however, that while many hot water taps can be used to boil liquids, some only heat the water up to a standard temperature such as 98 degrees or 100 degrees, meaning you’ll be unable to adjust the water to a higher setting to make specialist teas or coffees. It’s also worth noting that while boiling water taps can save on energy usage compared to using a kettle, you do have to fill the tank with the amount of water you want to boil, so it can still be a waste of energy if you fill it too full or boil more than you need. hot water tap
