It is best to visit the beach in the early hours for sunrise, before the crowds arrive. It is also possible to stay at the famous Instagram tree houses that overlook Diamond Beach, although this option tends to book out months in advance.
Once you’re done at Diamond Beach, you can head back up the stairs to see Atuh Beach, which is on the other side of the cliffs.
Goa Giri Putri Temple
Visiting Goa Giri Putri Temple is one of the most popular things to do in Nusa Penida’s eastern side. It’s a large cave with a temple inside. The cave is dedicated to Shiva, a God that’s part of the trinity of creation (Brahma), preservation (Vishnu), and destruction (Shiva).
To enter the temple, you must crawl through a narrow opening. Then you’ll see a cavern-like temple filled with Hindu worshippers and incense smoke. Wearing a sarong is mandatory and there are several shops nearby where you can rent them cheaply.
From there, you’ll head to Broken Beach and Angel’s Billabong. It’s a great place to take pictures of the famous cliffs and blue rock pools.
Teletubbies Hill
If you’re a fan of the popular children’s TV show, you’ll probably enjoy a visit to Bukit Teletubbies Hill in Nusa Penida. The hill features a lush, green landscape that looks like the home of the cute characters.
